Bernice M. Whitehead, 92, of Barry, IL formerly of Earlville, Marengo and Arizona, passed away Monday, January 18, 2010 in Barry Community Care Center, Barry, IL. She was born May 4, 1917 in Iron River, Michigan the daughter of Joseph and Carrie (LaVoie) Haferkorn. She married Finas S. "Frank" Whitehead on November 17, 1938 in Chicago, IL. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Earlville, and a former member of St. Jude.
She is survived by her husband, Frank of Barry, IL; two daughters, Jane Boardman of Earlville, IL and Gail Campbell of Barry, IL; two sons, James (Eleanor) Whitehead of Arlington Heights, IL and John (Linda) Whitehead of Winfield, IL; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Willard) Cologna of Grayslake, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Richard and Wallace; and two sons-in-law; Morgan and Michael; and one grandson Thomas.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 25, 2010 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church 221 Union Street in Earlville with Rev. Chris G. Haake officiating.
