Turner-Eighner Funeral Home - Plano- - Oliver James “BUCK” Burbank, 86, of Plano and Sandwich, IL passed away, Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in Shabbona Health Care Center in Shabbona, IL. He was born March 27, 1923 in Lawrenceville, IL the son of Willard Eugene and Mary M. (Gordon) Burbank. He was a Veteran of the Merchant Marines serving during WWII. Buck was a member of the Plano American Legion Post #395. He is survived by two sons, Ron (Joan Gerden) Burbank of Iuka, IL and Ken (Debbie) Burbank of Earlville, IL; one daughter Lillian (Frank) Spoden of Sandwich, IL; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Emma Mae (Alvin) Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Harry Burbank of Oaktown, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris, one son, Gary, three sisters, one brother. Gathering of friends and family will be held at 10:30 a.m., to 12:00, noon at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL on Saturday, February 6, 2010 with a luncheon to follow at Plano American Legion. Burial of his urn will be private at a later date. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Plano Community Library to support children’s programming.
