Turner-Eighner Funeral Home Somonauk - Lowell Cook, Jr., 82 of Sandwich, IL passed away, Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 27, 1927 in Mounds, IL, the son of Lowell and Theresa (Richardson) Cook. He married Vera Toler on January 1, 1954 in Anna, IL. He was formerly employed by Federal Huber in Plano and retired in 1992 from Impact Die in Sandwich, IL. He was a member of Somonauk Baptist Church for 51 years. He enjoyed singing and gardening, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Vera; one daughter, Melonie Gaye (David) Covert of Millbrook; one son, Brian Cook of Carol Stream, IL; two grandsons, Daniel (Kamie) Covert of Somonauk, IL and Andrew (Jessica) Covert of Newark; five great grandchildren, Cody, Jacob, Alli, Conner and Dylan; one sister, Martha (John) Shrode of Sheridan; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Cook of Sheridan and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Helen Holderfield and two brothers, Melvin Cook and Frank Cook.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 19, 2010 at Somonauk Baptist Church in Somonauk with Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk and again on Friday, from 10:30 until the time of service at the church.
