Elaine Dorothea Plote - 74
10/4/1935 - 4/4/2010

Turner-Eighner Funeral Home Somonauk - ELAINE D. PLOTE

Elaine Dorothea Plote, 74, of Victor Township, Leland, IL died on April 4, 2010 at her home from complications attributed to 34 plus years of Multiple Sclerosis.

Born October 4, 1935 on the family farm in Addison Township, DuPage County, IL the daughter of William and Emma (Moeller) Heinrich.

She attended Bensenville Elementary School and two years of High School then returned home to help on the family vegetable farm.

Elaine was a friend to everyone and always had a gift to give. She loved to cook, embroider, collect things, play radio sponsor wheel, and compile genealogical records. She was a true farmer’s wife who picked corn, milked cows, drove tractors and combines until her stumbling, numbness, and pain was diagnosed as multiple sclerosis.

Her life was filled with love and care by family and friends. Mildred Morel and many other caregivers truly added to her quality of life and ability to continue living at home. Mom stayed mentally engaged by following the Cubs, Bulls, and Illini as well as playing cards and dice with special friends.

She was a baptized member and later married Ralph Elmer Plote on Dec. 4, 1955 at St. John’s Evangelical and Reform Church, Bensenville, IL.

Survivors include her children: Sandra (Ken) Mason, Marlene (Larry) Sampson, Lester Plote, and Roy (Janet) Plote; brothers: Elmer (Grace), William C. (Phyllis), and LeRoy (Corinne) Heinrich; in-laws: Dolores Heinrich and Elmer and Margaret (Plote) Reuter; grandchildren: Brooke (Matt) Grzanich, Ryan (Brandy) Mason, Jennifer (Travis) Sweeden, Brittany Sampson (Ray Rinker), Ethan and Avery Plote; great-grandchildren: Katie and Matthew Grzanich, Kiley Mason, and Kinslee Sweeden; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, 12-21-2001; father 9-29-1968; mother 9-8-1986; siblings: Mamie (Arthur Sr.) Schulze, Helen (Elmer) Klipp, Christian (Harriet) Heinrich, Ella (Richard) Rosenwinkel, Edward (Esther/Betty) Heinrich, Martin Heinrich, and Lorraine (Melvin) Hartmann.

My deepest sympathies to your family. Elaine was such a sweet person to talk to. She would call me on the sponsor wheel regularly and I always enjoyed talking with her. It was fun when she would win and it seemed to brighten her day when she would play but, really she brightened my day when she would call. I was saddened to hear of Elaine's passing and just wanted to let you know she will be deeply missed and I will always hold a fondness in my heart for Elaine. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. May God see you all through this difficult time. Sincerely, Melinda Collins

I have had the pleasure of knowing Elaine for over 33 years. I first met Elaine with her huisband Ralph and inlaws Elmer and Luella at a business meeting in Elgin in 1977. I knew after that meeting that Elaine and her family were people you wanted to know and enjoyed doing business with. Each year I looked forward to seeing or talking with Elaine. She had a very special way of bringing a smile to your face. With loving memories. Eric Fernandez

Our sincerest condolences and sympathies to all the members of Elaine's family, especially my cousins Sandy, Marlene, Lester and Roy. I know she played a big role in all of your lives and her constant attention and concern for you was a source of real support. She was always a caring aunt to me and my brother, Larry, and my sister. Ellen. I know my father and her brother, Chris, thought of her often and would always marvel at her strength and positive attitude. She was a person with a very unique set of gifts. Godd luck and god bless you all. Don Heinrich and Family

Elaine was a long time and very dear friend. We knew each other since we were kids. The Heinrich farm and our farm were next to each other near Bensenville. We went to church and dances together. Her sister, Mamie, was my aunt and God-mother. Marty was my brother-in-law. So we knew the whole family and were close to them all. Now Elaine is at peace and is free of her affliction to walk wherever she wishes because she knew her Lord Jesus.
