Ernest J. Hill, 92, of Sandwich formerly of Earlville passed away Thursday April 22, 2010 at Sandwich Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was born August 31, 1917 in Gillette, Wyo. The son of John and Clara Hill and later moved to IL, where he married Uvana Casey.
He joined the U.S. Air Force where he became a Second Lt. and a pilot of WW II. Upon his discharge, they moved to Plano, IL and he worked at Dunnes Ford Garage. He later was owner and operator of Hills Body Shop until his retirement. He was a member of the Plano American Legion.
Mr. Hill and his wife resided in Earlville, IL for forty-two years and recently moved to Sandwich, IL. He was a family man who always was there to spoil and help his wife, daughter and grandsons. He built and remodeled his own homes and was there to remodel any one of his families homes. He enjoyed traveling and his fishing trips to S. Dakota with his son-in-law and grandsons and their friends. He will be sadly missed but happily remembered.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Marlene Skinner of Earlville, IL, two grandchildren, David (Lynn) Skinner, Darren (Misty) Skinner, three great grandchildren, Ashley Skinner, Zach Skinner and Doug Skinner Jr.. Two sisters, Lorene “Rene” Barnes, Ruth “Tootie” Hester and one brother, Floyd “Dutch” Hill, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Douglas Skinner in 2009, his son-in-law Harold “Whitey” Skinner, two brothers, Lewis and Harley, two sisters, Sally and Dee and numerous nieces and nephews.
