Turner-Eighner Funeral Home Somonauk - John E. “Bumpa Jack” Newlin, 73, of Serena, IL passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Pleasant View Luther Home in Ottawa. He was born February 11, 1937 in Sandwich, IL the son of Russell and Marjorie Newlin. He married Dona Logeland on January 18, 1958 in Leland, IL. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was in Teamsters Local 179 driving for over 40 years. John enjoyed auto racing, feeding the birds, his animals, and especially his family.

He is survived by one daughter, Wendy (Willis) Keigley Jr. of Serena, IL; one son, Wayde (Margaret) Newlin of Maryville, TN; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Bryan) McMahan of Sandwich, IL; Jenna Keigley of Serena, IL, Jeffrey Newlin of Maryville, TN, and Jackie Newlin of Maryville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dona; two brothers, Robert and Dean Newlin.

Junior and Wendy, I can not even imagine how you both have been able to persevere thru ALL that you have had to endure. You are both such great people your parents would be so proud! So sorry to hear of your dad's passing--I know the last few months have been tough and this is sure a double whammy with Jr.'s dad passing also--I am sure he is in a better place and has found peace. You need to take care of yourself Wendy--lots of love--annette

Jr., Wendy, Brian, Lindsey, Jenna We are so sorry to learn of yet another loss of a loved one for your family. Jack will be missed by many. We will always remeber your Mom and Dad cutting wood on the hillside at our rental house and the interesting conversations that would take place. I know he thought the world of his kids and grand kids and pray you find comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and is with the lord now.
