Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home - Sandwich- - Gertrude B. Gord, 96, of Sandwich, Illinois passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010 in Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich. She was born January 26, 1914 in Baker, IL, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Anderson) Wold. She was united in marriage to Orrin A. Gord on July 18, 1936 and spent 72 years of married life together until his passing in 2008.

She graduated from Leland High School and was employed by the Pants Factory in Sandwich and later after her children were older, was employed by CTS Knights Company in Sandwich before retiring.

She is survived by one son, Gary (Bonnie) Gord of Somonauk, IL and one daughter, Glenda (Richard) Andrews of Leland, IL; five grandchildren, Robin (Ray) Raupp of Sheridan, IL, Jennifer (Albert) Alvarez, Stephani (Duane) Giesholt, Kristin (Roger) Duffield, and Ryan (Becky) Andrews all of Somonauk; thirteen great grandchildren, Ryan, Rachel and Ross Raupp, Jeremy and Christopher Giesholt, Aaron and Abbie Alvarez, Nicholas, Taylor and Amber Duffield, Carter, Whitney and Brady Andrews and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orrin, her parents, four sisters, Arlette Wold, Mrytle Hanson, Della Voga and Burletta Johnson and two brothers, Laverne and Marvin Wold..

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich with Pastor Wayne Derber officiating. Burial will follow at Baker Cemetery in rural Leland, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Your parents were absolutely the best people. Their 72 years of marriage speaks highly of their commitment. That word probably is the best way to describe them; they were committed on all levels of life. I am sorry to read of your mother's passing. One is never too old to be missed and loved.

Glenda: We're so sorry for your loss. You and your family have been in our prayers since learning of your families loss. I'll always remember and associate your folks with the many fun experiences when they were shopping at "Hanson's Market" and our years at Salem Lutheran Church.

We truly thank you for letting us know of your loss. Your parents were wonderful people and we enjoyed their friendship. We have many great memories of them both. We also would like to say that they were proud of their family.
