William G. Straube - 68

Somonauk, IL - William G. Straube, 68, of Sandwich, formerly of Glen Ellyn, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Oswego. He was born February 22, 1942 in Chicago, the son of William and Margaret (Kilzer) Straube. He married Judy Kukovec in 1968 in Wheaton, IL.

William was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of Local 803 Cement Mason Union. Before retiring, he worked as a Bricklayer / Stone Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; two sons, William G. (Ronda) Straube, Jr. and Michael W. (Brenda) Straube; two grandsons, Tyler and Zac; one brother, Richard (Debbi) Straube; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Sandwich with Rev. Andrew C. Hougan officiating. Entombment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with a prayer service being recited at 7:45 pm. Dear Ones, Bill was a very good person and friend of ours. We were lucky to have known him! We had many good times together. We will and do miss him. May God give you all the strength to get through the next few days. He is no longer in pain and he is in a better place. You have our deepest sympathy.

Beloved husband of Judy for 42 years, fond brother-in-law of Michael G. (Penny) Kukovec, Donna Kukovec, Colleen (Gregg) Tisil, and Denise (the late Carter) Kukovec. Fond uncle to Michael J. (Christy), Michael R., Josh, Jessi Kukovec, Richard Straube, and Eric, Evan, and Emma Tisil. Friend and teacher to many. William was very brave and courageous in this battle that could not be won. He will be missed and remembered by all. We loved him.
