Bernard J. “BUD” Henrikson, 90, of Mendota formerly of Earlville, IL passed away, Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Mendota Lutheran Home in Mendota. He was born March 13, 1920 in Freedom Township LaSalle County, IL, the son of Jacob B. and Marie (Martin) Henrikson. He married Myrtle Faye Leach on September 8, 1940 in Harding, IL. He was a member of the Earlville United Methodist Church, and the Masonic Lodge #417. He farmed in the Serena and Leland area for most of his life. Bud also worked at Caterpillar in Aurora for 21 years before retiring in 1980 and moving to Earlville. Bud and Myrtle enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona were they were faithful Cubs spring training fans.

He is survived by one daughter, Maida (Jack) Sawyer of Delafield, WI; two sons, William (Cyd) Henrikson of Peoria, IL and Stephen (Kim) Henrikson of Ottawa, IL; six grandchildren, Leslie (Dean) Freeland, Michael (Lynette) Henrikson, Seth (Laura) Henrikson, Brett (Tiffany) Sawyer, Emily (Keith) Cotton and Luke (Kelly) Henrikson and thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Myrtle; one sister, Thelma Bounds; and six brothers, Myron, Allen, Everett, Truman, Robert and Frederick Henrikson.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2010 at Earlville United Methodist Church in Earlville, IL with Pastor Cheri Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Harding Cemetery rural Earlville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Masonic service to follow, on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL.
