Robert A. Boring, Jr., 74, of Leland, IL passed away, Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich.

He was born August 19, 1935 in Big Rock, IL, the son of Robert A. and Mildred (Marquardt) Boring. He married Reva Ann Boyer on June 9, 1956 at Plano Baptist Church in Plano, IL. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge #171 in Plano for 43 years. He retired from El Paso Gas in Sandwich after 44 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and the outdoors. He was a great handyman and he liked making things.

He is survived by his wife, Reva of Leland; three children, Brenda Beverly of Marseilles IL, Robert (Stacy) Boring, III of Granbury, TX, Deirdre Almy of Sandwich; 6 grandchildren; 2 ½ great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Raymond Boring of Aurora, IL, Ronald (Marlene) Boring of Alabama, Roger (Diane) Boring of Owensboro, KY; one sister, Carol (Bill) Sanford of Paw Paw, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Boring.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2010 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Pastor John William Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Odd Fellows. Roger, I am deeply sorry for the loss of your brother. My condolances to you and your family. Time helps ease the pain some and I know if Don was still with us, he would be giving you his heartfelt wishes also. God be with you and yours during this difficult time.
